Computer Literacy

Project RISHI’s Computer Literacy project division aims to bring quality education on computer systems, applications, and programming languages catered to all ages. In specific, we aim to work with underprivileged communities that lack access to this education and promote knowledge and job preparedness in the field of computer science and computer engineering.

Current Work

Computer Literacy has been creating an app that allows people to have an easier time with taking medicine by utilizing frameworks like React Native to create a frontend that reminds individuals to take medicine at a certain time. Our app is calibrated specifically for Snehalaya in collaboration with our Chronic Illness team. Since there is a lot of stigma around HIV and taking medicines related to HIV, this app tries to suggest timings that would ensure the individual in question is by themselves.

The second initiative that we approached was education. At this point, it is universally accepted that technology is the future, so having children exposed to technology earlier is extremely important. So, we are going to add on to our past projects and improve the worksheets created to help children learn basic programming languages like scratch and python.

Projects

01 Scratch Curriculum

We developed a coding curricula centered around teaching 5th standard students a block style programming language called Scratch. The lesson plans cover a range of topics followed by exercises to reinforce the concepts. By introducing basic computer concepts in a kid-friendly format, we believe we can build a foundation for students to become more technologically literate.
